It’s been a whirlwind of life changes for me now that I’ve gone back to work. I’m happy to say that it’s going great and Noah is handling the changes really well too. Don’t get me wrong, I miss him a lot but I am happy he’s making new friends and I’m really enjoying my new job. Very happy to have a holiday weekend to enjoy more time with him though. What are your plans for the long weekend?

Now time for a little inspiration, I’m feeling some slight craft withdrawal…

DIY to Try Friday

It’s going to be a fun and busy weekend for us. I probably won’t be working on any projects though because my husband and I are going away for the night for my friend’s wedding. I’m going to miss our little man for the 30 hours that we will be apart but I am really looking forward to our drive up along the ocean. I’m sure I’ll be on Instagram along the way. =)

Now for three awesome DIY ideas!

Jaime over at C.R.A.F.T. created these Aztec Inspired Shoes. How cute to make a simple shoe more unique with just some paint markers. You could even use stencils and the design options are endless.

 

Beth from dot…in the city made these super cute and waterproof DIY Garden Tags. Such a great little project even one you could do with the kiddos.

 

Kayla from Freckles in April. I love the name of her blog. She was born in April and she has Freckles. Simple. Lovely. She shows us how to make a Morse Code Necklace for under $10. Not sure if I’m just out of the loop but this is the first I’ve heard of a Morse Code Necklace and I think it’s such a creative way to wear your kid’s names on your neck.

Grace over at Stripes + Sequins made this super cool DIY Heavy Metal Bracelet from items at a hardware store. I love meeting girls that love the hardware store as much as I do…

 

Ashley at The Latest Find made some really pretty spring decor by re-using some empty food jars. I almost threw out a perfectly good empty applesauce jar yesterday but luckily I came to my senses and will try out this fun DIY.

 

My new blogging buddy, Kristin from Living in Color Print, shared this fantastic DIY Framed Scrapbook Paper Wall Gallery. I mean what a perfect week me to feature another great wall gallery, right?

DIY to Try Friday

For me, this week was one of those where there is never enough time but l feel like I got just enough done. With a blog, the moment you finally press “publish” on a post that you worked so hard on there is a sense of joy and feeling that you’re oh so on top of it. Shortly thereafter, you start working on the next post and the cycle begins again. It’s just part of the process and I really do enjoy coming up with new and fun projects to share with you. However, one night this week I took the time to not work on the blog at all after 8:30pm 8:42pm. I gave myself a much needed manicure and tried to catch up on TV with my husband. Taking care of myself makes me feel a little balanced in this new life of girl/mommy/wife/daughter/sister/cousin/friend/blogger. I’d love to hear how you take care of YOU. We all wear many hats and sometimes it’s important to take them off and put on a sparkly headband. =)

Kate from Centsational Girl made the beautiful clay petals on this lovely DIY Clay Petal Vase.

I’m thinking up a few ways to try this out. I already shared the idea with Kate but I know she’ll keep my secret. =)

 

Heather from At The Picket Fence showed us how to customize a barstool. She took a plain Jane stool and turned it into something so beautiful and one-of-a-kind. I love stencils…

 

My friend Lindsey from Cherryvale Farms showed us how she made the yummiest looking Ricotta Tart with Candied Kumquats.

There were so many great DIY ideas to take in this week that I had trouble choosing just three to feature.

We have a fun-filled weekend planned including TWO 1st birthday parties for Noah’s adorable little girl friends Olivia and Charlotte. He’s quite the ladies man. Between parties, I’ll be working on my dining room gallery wall and some bird house art. Fun!

 

DIY Crepe Paper Flowers from Erica and Lauren at Honestly WTF

I have been admiring crepe paper flowers and rounds a lot lately and I’m so excited to try making my own to hang from our bedroom ceiling.

 

Thread Wrapped Love Necklace from Kirsten at Studs and Pearls

So great to find another way to use the tons of DMC embroidery thread I recently bought to make my DIY Crystal Head Wraps. I’m still making head wraps but it’s nice to mix it up.

 

 

DIY Hardware Clutch from Jenni at I Spy DIY

I’m actually finding there are so many crafts you can make with things from a hardware store… I think she took a clutch that typically I would mostly wear at night and made it a bag for anytime of day. =)
