Today’s featured DIY projects are all about the home. Two happen to be silhouette decorative projects and the last one is an amazing organization idea.
Maryam of Pamplemousse1983 made this adorable Silhouette Doormat. I rarely find doormats that are especially amazing so why not create your own? I mean you could really stencil anything on a plain doormat… Monograms? Yes! What a great housewarming gift.
Rebecca of Manzanita shows us her DIY Silhouette Family Portrait. She came up with the most clever idea of tweaking a photo of your subject in a photo editing program to make it dark and then easy to trace. I was actually looking up how to create a silhouette while working on my gallery wall from this post and decided I would tackle it another time. I think this is going to be a great addition to my wall. Should I include the cats?
The team at Camille Styles shows us their DIY Wall-Mounted Wrapping Paper Organizer, photographed by Chis Perez. I love this since I currently have all of my wrapping paper in a tall shopping bag and I just don’t like it that way. If you don’t have a craft room (really why not?) it would be perfect in an office or garage. I’m betting there is a way to adapt this for ribbons too… I’ll have to work on that one.

My husband and I got to get out of Los Angeles to attend my good friend’s wedding in Ojai. It was such a beautiful wedding and I’m so happy for them. They did such a good job with all of the planning from choice of location, down to the little details. I really love weddings because it’s such a wonderful moment in someone’s life and to be a part of it even in a small way is really amazing. I also find now that I’m married, I like to really listen during the ceremony, like they are also talking to me. It is a nice and romantic little way to take me back to our special day. I’m lucky to have a really great marriage. Of course no marriage or relationship is perfect but I have found that communication, true listening (not waiting to talk) and hobbies of our own keep us on the right track. I have also realized that we really need to take the time to get out of town just the two of us once in a while. We needed some quality time to just hang out and decompress. It felt really indulgent to do whatever we wanted even if it was to just take a nap.

I’ve always had a thing for green, especially peridot. Lately I’ve been crushing on coral quite a bit and I love the combination of the two colors along with some neutral notes of black and gold.

I recently had the opportunity to try out this super fun and addicting Facebook app called the “Vogue Off” from River Island. You get to add your picture and it gets loaded into their ad campaign where you choose a dance theme and enjoy the hilarity. You can either dance with one of their hot models or upload a friend’s pic and dance with them. Then you have the option to share away on Facebook or Twitter and purchase the outfit your face was pasted to. I tried a few different dances including ballet and freestyle then ultimately decided on the tango… Did I ever tell you I took tango lessons? Oh so much fun! This was during my pre-married lady days and I’m still trying to convince my husband to take lessons with me…
