I was “inspired” for this idea when I was at one of my very good friend’s baby shower earlier this month. She received a version like this as a gift and I thought it was such a great idea that I wanted to have a go at it. This one is also a gift that I made for Noah’s little girl friend for her 1st birthday. Now I’m going to make one for all of my friends with little girls. I don’t think it would go too well in Noah’s room… Maybe I need to make him a hat rack next.
To make this handy holder, you will need the following supplies:
So I kind of forgot to take the photo of the supplies before I spray painted. I guess I was a little overly excited to use this fab mint colored paint… Just imagine, the frame was white in the photo above. You could spray paint an old frame or buy a frame in a color you already like. Next, cut ribbon to fit the backside of the frame and one to hang the frame from, then staple away. One tip I would suggest when stapling try to choose ribbon that is at least a little wider than the width of a staple so you don’t need to staple twice. You could also use finishing nails depending on the thickness of the frame.

Next, screw in the hooks to the bottom of the frame. I suggest measuring and marking holes to have evenly spaced hooks. Depending on on the material of your frame, you may want to drill tiny holes with a 5/64 drill bit. Drilling a hole first just makes life easier but not absolutely necessary.
That’s pretty much it. A cute little holder for hair clips, bracelets and necklaces. You could take it to another level and embellish the frame. If I had more time, I would have bought little wooden letters (they sell them at Michael’s) to spell out her name, paint them and glue to the frame. Maybe her crafty mommy will add to it.
I shared this fun project on the following lovely blogs:
